Terms of Service

These terms apply to all orders placed on tonecoat.com. By placing an order you agree to them.

1. About us

Tone Coat is run by Matthew Jefferies as a sole trader, based in Norfolk, UK. You can contact us at info@tonecoat.com.

2. Our products and how to use them

Tone Coat sells hand tinted pigment bags designed to be mixed into one 25kg bag of British Gypsum Multi-Finish plaster. They're made and tested for that plaster only, and we can't guarantee results with any other plaster. Always follow the instructions and guidance on our website.

3. Images and colour

Product images are digitally created and colour matched to photos of the real Tone Coat finish. They're a guide only. Colour can look different depending on your screen and lighting.

4. Colour and finish variation

Tone Coat works with gypsum plaster rather than replacing it, so the final colour and finish depend on mixing, water, application, technique, drying conditions and the base plaster. These are outside our control. Some variation is natural and is not a fault. It's your responsibility to order a sample disc and test a small area, letting it dry fully, before using Tone Coat on a full wall or project.

For a consistent colour, use Multi-Finish from the same batch for the whole job, and order all your Tone Coat for a job at the same time so it comes from the same batch. Always mix a full pigment bag into a full 25kg bag of Multi-Finish, and never split bags. If this isn't followed, results may vary.

5. Made to order

Each bag is hand tinted and made to order. Orders of 10 or more bags are made specially and can't be returned (see our Refund Policy).

6. Orders and payment

Your order is accepted when we confirm it by email. Prices are shown on the website at the time you order, and payment is taken when you place your order. We may refuse or cancel an order, for example if a product is unavailable or a price was shown in error. If we do, we'll refund you in full.

7. Delivery

We currently deliver within the UK only. Delivery times are estimates and may be affected by things outside our control. Please check your order when it arrives.

8. Returns

Returns are covered by our Refund Policy.

9. Limitation of liability

We're not liable for labour costs, plastering or redecorating costs, or results caused by application, mixing, water, drying conditions, the base plaster or not testing first. Our total liability for any order is limited to the price you paid for it. We're not liable for any indirect or unforeseeable loss.

We can't be held responsible for finished walls or how they dry. Mixing technique, the amount of Multi-Finish and water used, and differences between Multi-Finish batches all affect the final colour and how it dries, and these are outside our control.

Nothing in these terms limits our liability for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, for fraud, or anything else that can't be limited by law. Your statutory rights are not affected.

10. Safety

Always read and follow our Safety Data Sheet, available on our website, when storing, handling and mixing Tone Coat.

11. Changes to these terms

We may update these terms from time to time. The terms in force when you place your order apply to that order.

12. Governing law

These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and the courts of England and Wales have jurisdiction.
