First Aid Measures

InhalationRemove the affected person to fresh air immediately. Keep warm and at rest. If breathing is difficult or respiratory symptoms develop, seek urgent medical attention. Inform medical personnel this product contains cobalt-bearing mineral pigments.
Skin ContactRemove all contaminated clothing immediately. Wash affected skin thoroughly with soap and water for at least 15 minutes. If irritation, redness, or rash develops or persists, seek medical advice.
Eye ContactDo not rub eyes. Hold eyelids open and rinse immediately with clean running water for a minimum of 15 minutes. Seek medical attention if irritation persists.
IngestionDo not induce vomiting. Rinse mouth thoroughly with water. Seek immediate medical advice. Show this Safety Data Sheet to attending medical personnel.

Seek immediate medical attention if: respiratory symptoms occur or persist following inhalation; skin symptoms do not resolve within 24 hours; any exposure occurs in a pregnant worker.

05

Fire-Fighting Measures

Suitable MediaWater spray, dry powder, carbon dioxide (CO₂), foam — use media appropriate to surrounding fire.
Special HazardsToneCoat is not flammable, explosive, or oxidising under normal conditions. In the event of fire, product may generate mineral dust presenting an inhalation hazard.
Advice for Fire-FightersWear self-contained breathing apparatus (SCBA) and full protective equipment. Prevent fire-fighting water run-off from entering drains or watercourses.
06

Accidental Release Measures

Personal Precautions: Avoid generating dust. Wear full PPE as detailed in Section 8. Ensure adequate ventilation. Pregnant workers should not participate in clean-up operations.

Environmental Precautions: Prevent large quantities from entering drains, watercourses, or soil. Notify the Environment Agency if significant quantities enter a watercourse.

Clean-Up Methods

  • Dampen lightly with water to suppress dust before sweeping — never dry sweep
  • Collect using a vacuum fitted with a HEPA filter, or carefully sweep into sealed, labelled waste containers
  • Wear full PPE throughout clean-up
  • Wash contaminated surfaces with water — be aware pigments cause staining
  • Dispose of collected waste in accordance with Section 13
07

Handling & Storage

Safe Handling

  • Obtain special instructions before use — read all hazard information prior to handling
  • Always work in a well-ventilated area or outdoors where possible
  • Wear full PPE as described in Section 8 for every handling occasion
  • Avoid generating dust during pouring, mixing, and transfer operations
  • Do not eat, drink, or smoke when handling the product
  • Wash hands and all exposed skin thoroughly before breaks and at end of work period
  • Pregnant workers and those planning pregnancy must not handle this product
  • Use the minimum quantity necessary to complete the task

Safe Storage

  • Store in original sealed packaging in a cool, dry location away from moisture
  • Store locked away and out of reach of children
  • Keep away from food, drink, and animal feed
  • Do not re-seal and store partially used bags — use entire bag contents in one mix
Specific End UseFor use exclusively as a pigment colouring additive with British Gypsum Multi-Finish plaster. Not suitable for any food, cosmetic, pharmaceutical, or other application.
